I’ve mentioned this before but it’s worth repeating. The finish work you do on your doodles is what makes it art. It’s subtle sometimes. Other times it’s drastic. But it’s important. It gives your lines dimension and makes them more solid. Check out this before and after. Then try it.

Here’s a little ditty for your Sunday night. Dance with me. 🙂

Sleepovers are cool. But for some reason, once you’re a grown-up, it’s just called “staying with a friend.”

Well, I’m not having it. Because I don’t feel like being a grown-up today.

I drew this during a weekend sleepover with a cool friend (who nearly lost her cats to our ferocious beast.)

Because…just because. Go with it.

I started with basic straight lines crossing the page. This is how most lies begin.

Then I filled in all the corners of the wedges. This is the most fun step for some reason, probably because I’m a weirdo.

Now that the corners of your mind…er drawing have gone dark, vary the direction of repeated arcs within the shapes, to cover your lies from every angle. Triangular shapes are easy. The trapezoidal shapes were a bit more challenging. It’s big word Wednesday, btw.

And voila! You have a tangled web of lies, solid for a moment yet so frail as soon as a little pressure is applied.

Don’t be a liar. Liars suck.

I feel like I’m in a perpetual state of recovery these past months. Maybe because I am. 😦

As always, doodling to the rescue! It’s been a great distraction.

Who’s with me?

I call this one “Visitors” because I had house guests when I created it, but also because the end product reminded me a bit of a giant beanstalk with some sort of alien growth. ~____^

The video is a combination of time lapse and real time. At the beginning of each new section, watch in real time to get a feel for the movement. Then enjoy the remainder in time lapse.

Do you love visitors as much as I do?!?! The more, the merrier.
