I’m stepping away from my norm here (just for a moment, I promise) and sharing a slightly different kind of art I’ve been exploring. I’ve enjoyed pencil sketches since high school but watercolors are new for me. The video is a combination of real time and time lapse. I hope you enjoy it!

Here’s the pencil drawing before watercolors were applied.

I don’t even like robots. So… I have no explanation. Just glad to be drawing again.

Yay! A new doodle prompt. My last doodle prompt, Viscera Phantasma, has been a huge hit and is flying around Pinterest. Finally, I have taken the time (lots and lots and LOTS of time) to put together another one for you. And you better share your final doodles with me this time! Email them to me at heidimarie.artist at gmail. Thank you ever so much!

Feel free to share these pieces or the entire prompt in one image as seen here on Pinterest.

So… to create a doodle like this…

Now get doodling! No excuses.

A little whimsy in a surprisingly quick doodle drawing. Who wants to name these crazy little creatures?

Sara just happens to be one of our amazing photography clients. We’ve photographed her a couple of times now and absolutely love her and her mom! As I was scrolling through Instagram, I stumbled upon this drawing of hers and just had to share it with you. She’s not just a model and actress, she’s an artist too. 🙂

Simple flower doodle that was done in a pinch.

On the next one, I started finishing it up in the top corner. The finish work takes it from a sketch to a complete doodle… I think.

Every time I come across this doodle in my sketchpad, I stop to look at it for a minute. It feels so different from my usual doodles. It’s … sketchy. And I’m OK with that. I remember drawing it and really having to force myself to scribble in a sense. I always want perfectly clean lines. So when I see this, I have to stop and rethink things. In my head, I’m saying,  “Let it go.” And, no, I’m not singing it. Are you feeling this?

Another one today! I’m hot. (In the most doodle way possible.) Thank you, Shannie, for letting us stay at your house when we visit so I can be reminded of how wonderful it is to doodle and how I need to enjoy it without it being perfect. Who’s with me over here on the imperfect side?!

It’s been a rough, rough day. 1 in 100. Let’s just say it started with a phone call before 5AM and just won’t end. So I was ecstatic to get home at 10 and finally sit down to relieve some of that stress with a doodle drawing (and a glass of wine.) How was your day?
